A 30-year-old Pakistani-born U.S. Citizen, Faisal Shahzad, has been arrested in connection to the Times Square car bomb incident. He is due to appear in court today, Tuesday, May 4. He apparently and thankfully didn’t know much about bomb making, because it didn’t go off. He did not pass go, did not collect $ 200, and was taken to jail. He’s likely going to need some large installments loans for a lawyer.

Faisal Shahzad arrested in nick of time

Authorities caught Faisal Shahzad in an attempt to flee. He was apprehended at John F. Kennedy International Airport, on board a plane bound for Dubai. The vehicle that had the bomb in it was traced to the original owner, which is how he was tracked down according to the Los Angeles Times. Authorities said the bomb may have been the work of two people.

Described as quiet type

Neighbors of Faisal Shahzad described him as being very private. No one knew what he did for a living, and he rarely was seen outside the house. One neighbor in his neighborhood in Shelton, Connecticut said Shahzad had said he worked on Wall Street, and another neighbor according to CBS) believed he worked in Norwalk, Connecticut, which is nearby to Shelton. None of his neighbors saw him emerge from the house often. His house was foreclosed on last year.

The President had something to say

President Obama released a brief statement in which he praised the efforts of the citizens who tipped off law enforcement and the law enforcement officials who responded to the threat. He vowed further investigation and that justice would be served.

Why did he do it?

So far, the motives of Faisal Shahzad’s Times Square car bomb haven’t been identified. What is clear, from the CBS reports and others reports, is that he had become a citizen. He and his wife purchased a home, and she and their children now reside close to Peshawar, Pakistan, where he returned from several months ago. He also didn’t bother registering a 1993 Pathfinder he purchased with cash. Authorities used the VIN on the motor to find the previous owner. Further insight may be gained soon, as he is due in court soon.
